Music and nature have many things in common. The links between our emotions, music and the natural world were examined mostly in dualities, and insufficiently as an intertwined triangle of these three elements.
This insight was enough for us to be the first brand, as well as public institution, to launch its own Spotify channel in 2022. Each playlist bore the name of a certain natural phenomenon, species or motif, putting more than 20 music curators on a unique task: to translate these topics into the language of music.
But here's the exciting part: our playlists aren't typical chill tunes, as one might expect. Authors are given the freedom to express themselves through different genres, based on their style and listening preferences, as long as they stick to the topic. DJs, designers, filmmakers, activists, writers – various influential figures from Belgrade's arts and culture scene joined pro bono. The playlists range from dark and energetic to playful, evocative, or laid-back.
Acid rock blends with shoegaze, Balearic with ambient, evoking the diverse plant species in the garden to grow in symbiosis with humans. Early this year was the right time to kick off season 2024 with redesigned visuals - colorful abstract shapes represent 12 plants in 12 new playlists.
This was always about the image, rather than engagement and numbers. Together, we made the Garden cool again. Enough said, plug in your headphones. Click here for a direct link to our channel.
